Substitute Information
Substitute Checklist
All paperwork must be completed (ink or type) and on file before your name is placed on the sub list.
- Alabama Substitute License Application
- Drug-Free Policy
- Drug Test results
- TB Test results
- W-4 Federal Withholding
- A-4 Alabama Withholding
- Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
- Copy of Social Security Card
- Copy of Valid Driver’s License
- Direct Deposit with voided check
- Proof of High School Graduation or GED
- Copy of Alabama Department of Education Substitute License or valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
OR
- Application form for Alabama Substitute Teacher’s License with a $38.00 money order payable to the Alabama State Department of Education or through ALSDE Educator Certification Online Payment System, with a major credit card, at www.alabamainteractive.org/education (a transfer fee will apply)
- Background clearance and fingerprint processing is required for all new substitutes
- Register online with AIM account (Directions attached) for a Criminal History Background Check with Fieldprint.
- Payment of $46.20 is required at time of application.
- Complete fingerprint process at Busby Printing and Mailing at 840 Snow Street, Oxford. Call 256-835-5679 for hours and appointment. You must bring a valid picture ID.
Application Process
The Oxford City School System accepts applications at any time - whether there are specific job openings announced or not. Please see the options for applying below.
New Applicants
Option A
Submit an Oxford City Schools application and resume via mail or email to Michael Maniscalco, Director of Human Resources at P.O. Box 7670 Oxford, AL 36203 (email: humanresources@oxboe.com). Applicants can locate the links to access the local district application forms by selecting the Employees and Careers/Career Opportunities menu then certified or classified positions tabs.
Option B
For positions posted on the HireTrue website, applicants can choose to submit an application there and do not have to complete the local district application. If applying via the HireTrue website, an applicant may also choose to email a letter of interest to the Director of Human Resources (humanresources@oxboe.com) and provide additional notice of the completed online application.
Current Applicants
If you have already filed an application within the last year, you may email a letter of interest and notice of prior application to Michael Maniscalco, humanresources@oxboe.com. You do not need to submit a new application.
Current Employees
Submit a resume and letter of interest via email to Michael Maniscalco, humanresources@oxboe.com. An application is not necessary.
Additional Notes
Interviews- Documents will be reviewed by system administrators to determine interview invitations. Interviews are not granted by requests for appointments from applicants. Questions should be sent by email and not through telephone calls.
