Oxford High School Concert Choir is a non-auditioned choir consisting of students from Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir, and Show Choir. This group of singers perform a diverse repertoire of choral music; including classical, contemporary, and sometimes even pop and folk. They perform in two full concerts per year, local and state events, State Choral Performance Assessment, and many other honor choirs throughout the school year. The concert choir has also collaborated with Jacksonville State University choirs and Oxford Community Chorus in various performances and concerts. Their director, Mrs. Luke fosters a positive and supportive rehearsal environment where her choir members feel empowered to take risks, express themselves creatively, and have fun while making music together.

Oxford High School “Souled Out” Men’s Choir is a non-auditioned vocal ensemble consisting exclusively of male singers in grades 9 through 12. This choir performs an entertaining repertoire of music written specifically for high school tenor/bass voices. They frequently perform for local events, concerts, and state events. This ensemble captivates their audiences with vocal artistry and camaraderie.

Oxford High School “Golden Angels” Women’s Choir is a non-auditioned choir for 9th-12th grade treble voices. This choir showcases the unique timbre and versatility of female voices, creating rich harmonies and expressive interpretations of a diverse range of choral music. This ensemble performs in a variety of settings, including concerts, festivals, State Choral Performance Assessment, and community events.

Oxford “Sound” Show Choir is a premier competitive vocal ensemble that travels and performs throughout the Southeast. Sound is comprised of 24 auditioned performers and accompanied by an instrumental ensemble. Sound is under the direction of Holly Luke, with choreography and show design by Dallas Pritt, and musical arrangements by Kevin Duggan. To participate in Sound, students must undergo an audition process where they showcase their singing and dancing abilities. Auditions are held each year in April.

Holly Luke

Holly Luke has served as a music teacher in Oxford City Schools since 2010. She began by teaching at DeArmanville Elementary School and Coldwater Elementary School as the general music instructor and served as one of two Jacket Sing-Sations choir directors. In August of 2014, she began serving as the Director of Choirs at Oxford High School. She currently still serves in this position. Mrs Luke's choirs include the Oxford High School Concert Choir, the Oxford High School "Golden Angels" Women's Choir, the Oxford High School "Souled Out" Men's Choir, and the Oxford High School "Sound" Show Choir. Choirs under Mrs. Luke's direction, have consistently received superior ratings at State Choral Performance Assessment, and Solo and Ensemble Festival. Her show choir competes throughout the Southeast in the Small Mixed Division category. Students of Mrs. Luke have participated in State Honor Choirs, All State Choir and Show Choir Festivals, ACDA Southeastern Region Honor Choirs, and AMEA National Honor Choirs. Mrs. Luke is affiliated with the Alabama Music Educators Association where she currently serves at the AP Music Theory Chair, and with the Alabama Vocal Association where she has served as the District IV Chair for many years. 


Mrs. Luke's choral studies began at Southern Union State Community College, followed by Jacksonville State University, where she received her bachelor's degree in Music Education with a Vocal/Choral Concentration. She also has a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Alabama where her studies focused on fine arts education and leadership. Mrs. Luke is married to Steven Luke and they have two sons, Carter and Tanner.
