DeArmanville Elementary implements Foundations and CHAMPS school wide, which are proactive approaches to assist teachers and students with school-wide behavior management and create a “Structure for Success.”
It focuses on student expectations and behaviors resulting in higher rates of student achievement and a reduction in the frequency and intensity of misbehavior.
Students are taught expectations for each setting (classroom, lunchroom, hallway, etc.) and activity (small group, stations, whole group, etc.) throughout the school day.
Conversation: Can students talk to each other?
Help: How do students get their questions answered? How do they get your attention?
Activity: What is the task or objective? What is the end product?
Movement: Can students move about?
Participation: What does the expected student behavior look like? How do students show they are fully participating?
Success: If students follow the CHAMPS expectations, they will be successful!
