• I am thirty two years old and have been married to my husband, Alex, for fourteen years. We have three boys, Jay, Coleson, and Brooks. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a teacher. “If you love what you do then you will never work a day,” definitely applies to my career path.

I love spending time with my family most of all. My favorite hobbies include reading, shopping, and watching my favorite movies. My favorites books include The Lord of the Rings, The Twilight Saga, the Harry Potter series, Mary Higgins Clark mystery novels, and various other science fiction or mystery genres. Some of my favorite places to shop include Target, TJ Maxx, Amazon, and Ross. I enjoy watching movies created from the books I have read and am a huge fan of Marvel.

I am a high school graduate from Alexandria High School (2006). I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education (2014). I am currently teaching 6th grade ELA and Social Studies. I have taught 6th grade ELA at C.E. Hanna Elementary School for the past seven years (2014-2021). I have had the honor and pleasure of serving on multiple committees for my school. I have absolutely loved and enjoyed watching my students grow and succeed over the years. One of my greatest accomplishments was being filmed for the book Empowering Students as Questioners by Jackie Walsh.

My very first goal for my classroom, and always my first priority, is that my students have a safe and welcoming environment in my classroom. I also strive to empower my students to be analytical readers, thinkers, and problem solvers. Furthermore, I have a firm belief that students can take ownership of their learning through setting goals, self-assessment, utilizing formative and summative feedback, and asking questions to better understand and further their learning.
