• My name is Shannon Cochran. My husband, Chad, is the weight training coach and defensive coordinator at the high school. Go Big O! We have three children. Our two girls are students at Jefferson State and our son is a sophomore at OHS. We are obviously big football fans! We love our Oxford Yellow Jackets and the Auburn Tigers. We love the beach in Destin. That is our favorite vacation spot. I love to create things. We live in a farmhouse that is over 170 years old. I always have projects going on. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. When I was in 3rd grade I ask for a large chalkboard and other “teacher supplies” for Christmas. It was the best! At the end of 4th grade my school got new history books, so my teacher gave me her teacher’s manual. Over the summer all of my imaginary students learned about Helen Keller. I have Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership from Jacksonville State University. I have taught kindergarten, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and Family and Consumer Science. I have also been an ARI Reading Coach. This is my 17th year teaching. My goal as a teacher is to develop meaningful relationships with my students while helping them master skills that will make them a better reader.
